Not posting as much.
Good morning all. I would like to apologize, although there is probably no reason to, for not posting as much lately. I have been rather sick with a head and chest cold, which now Angie has, and school and family keeps me very busy.
I am getting over the cold now but I am not getting over school. The amount of information that is thrown at us is voluminous. If anyone has ever said, "Wow, I learned something new today!" it was a pretty good feeling; however, when you are forced to learn at least two or three hundred new things a day, some things with no clear reason for learning, it becomes more like a marathon for intellectual endurance rather than learning interesting and applicable vignettes with practical and helpful patient information. But such is medical school.
I even had a professor apologize yesterday for the long and arduous presentation on cardiac embryology ad nauseum (sp). But he stated that it is important for the school and accreditation. You see embryology, if based on clinical findings, is interesting, but to go through the whole process day by day, layer by layer without teaching us the malformations that we may see in the clinical world it becomes hard to absorb. Like I stated before, an exercise in mental stamina. Many fall asleep in the back.
Also Hurricane Ivan missed us. A good thing. It was a class 5 with winds about 150mph when it ripped through Grenada where the Medical school St. George's is located. It appears that everyone is OK from the school but at least 22 people have lost their lives. This cyclone is headed straight for Jamaica and the Grand Cayman Islands. The student that we just bought our car off of just transferred to St. Mattew's Medical School which is located on Grand Cayman.
Anyway, enough of my ranting and raving for now. I will try to have Angie post some more pics of the beauty and interesting things here.
