The Second, First Real Day of Medical School

Today, Wednesday, was the first real taste of medical school I have had. I can say that I love it and hate it at the same time. The information is fascinating, but the sheer amount of information presented is staggering, plus all the lectures are in Power Point (I HATE POWER POINT!). Every single anouncement and lecture is in POWER POINT.
Now back to my main point. I am in awe of how much we already have to know. The only way I know of how to describe this experience is take a ton of information, and put it into PowerPoint. Then present it to the class by reading over it as fast as you can, turn the page and do it again. Continue until time is up. Now hold all 150 student's responsible for every little thing that was on the Presentation, whether read aloud or not. Repeat everyday for the next semester.
It has already become, in some respects, very boring; of course, some teachers are better than others. In fact our main Anatomy professor is interesting and provides interesting details and tidbits to liven up the material. Case in point did anyone know that the word artery means, "carrier of air"? This was derived because in ancient times when a body was dissected soon after a person had died, the dissectors noticed that the arteries had no blood in them, only air. So it was an assumption that air was carried through these conduits and supplied to the body. This is because when one dies the blood from the arteries pours into the tissues of the body and does not remain in the artery. Cool, I thought.
Well, I had better get studying.
