Angie took the kids to Santa Monica to visit their friend, Rex and his mom, Renee (med student) from St. Maarten. They had lots of fun in Los Angeles shopping, sightseeing in Beverely Hills and the playing at the amusement park on the Santa Monica boardwalk. Posted by Picasa

The kids really enjoyed watching all the acts perform at the Promenade. Posted by Picasa

Here is one way to beat the heat in Bakersfield--The SNOWCONE Guy!!!! Last week we had 5 days above 110 deg F Posted by Picasa

A New Beginning!

I must apologize for not keeping this website up. The move from the Caribbean back to Grand Junction. Then the trip to see our parents in Boise, Idaho. Then the trip to Cortez, Colorado to see our parents there. Then back to Grand Junction so Jim could work at St. Mary's to earn some much needed cash. And also to help our friends Vicki and Roland out by watching their Painted View Ranch with their 3 horses, one 3 week old colt, one donkey, 15 cats, 3 dogs and 8 chickens so they could go on a much needed vacation for a month. Oh we also had to watch the Jacuzzi! I think it helped us more than them since we needed a place to stay during that time. It was kinda fun working the Ranch because it made me realize I never want that many animals to take care of. Even though I love them I truly know I never want tham. I will post pictures of these experiences when I get more time.
From there, we packed everything up from our storage unit and everything we brought back from the Caribbean (Only 8 suitcases worth) and on June 21 we left for Bakersfield, CA where Jim got his clinical site at KMC (Kern Medical Center) for the next 18 months (Then he will finally have his MD).
On the way there we stopped in Las Vegas at Circus Circus and had a blast in the Adventure Dome with roller coasters and tons of rides and activities. Jim and Jace stayed up until 11:30pm to where Jace actually layed down in the elevator on the way up to the room. Can you say, Wiped-out?
We got to Bakersfield and were ready to leave because the air pollution was so bad. How bad? The ALA (American Lung Association) has it reported for 2005 as the 2nd worst air quality in the United States. Who's first? Los Angeles/ San Bernadino County. Then the Heat! THE HEAT!!! We just had our first day yesterday below triple digits since we got here.
Jim finished up 4 weeks in Radiology and is now in Pathology. He has been a bit sick but is getting better. We then have a little while off and are going to go see Jace and Adams Great Grandma Julia in Morro Bay. Then we are going to fly out to see our old landlords from the Caribbean, but whom now have become good friends, in Cape Cod, MA. It is a once in a lifetime trip for us so we have to go now while we have the time. We will be there for 9 days and are going to make a trip to New York, New York to see the sights. Wish us luck because we will be there on Sept. 8 and 9th. We have never been to NY either and one of Jims friends from medical school, Peter Pinto (Wall Street Analyst turned MD), lives there and is going to show us around.
The kids are doing great and are now into racing BMX (see the pics below). They will be starting school at Patriot Elementary here on August 21 and we can see the entrance of the school from our front door, which is only about 200 yards away and makes us feel safer. It will be good for them. They haven't been in school since April 15, 2006 which is too long of a break but they are managing very well. Like they wouldn't. They have made new friends on our street and are having a great time and adjusting well.
I could go on and on but I will leave it at that.
We love and miss everyone. And we will try to take more pics and post them so you can all see what we are doing.
Cheers!
Love, Jim, Angie, Jace and Adam

Here is Jace in the Starting gate of his very first Race at Metro BMX Racing Park here in Bakersfield. All the people are very nice and supportive. These are the kids he beat. Posted by Picasa

Here is Jace winning is very first race. There is no one even close. The kid in the white is waiting for his brother to catch up. Posted by Picasa

Here he is with his very 1st ever trophy in BMX. He won every race! How foolish were we as parents, we told him he probably wouldn't beat anybody but to just go out and have fun. How surprised and wrong we were. And proud too. Posted by Picasa

Here is Mom with Jace's 1st, 1st place Trophy. We were shocked that he won. Posted by Picasa

Here is Adam at the Bakersfield BMX track getting his very 1st run in. He loved it. Now he has a new (used) bike and his own helmet and can't wait to get to race "For Reals." Posted by Picasa

This is Adam on his first night again, really getting into it!!! Posted by Picasa

This is Jace on the Bakersfield BMX track practicing before the nights races. Posted by Picasa

And once again Jace gets First place and a cool trophy. There are no pictures but he also raced the next night and got all first places again in the "Race for Life" BMX race to help cure Leukemia and Lymphoma. The boy standing next to him with the cap is Braxton a friend of his that we met in the Caribbean (along with the other two boys, R-L: Jordan, Hayden). He is going to start racing BMX also. Posted by Picasa

Dad and Adam enjoying the one and only Lyle Lovett. Well, by the look on Adam's face he would rather leave it than Lovett. He was just mad because the security wouldn't let him run around. There were only about 900 people there and it was all on the grass with bring your own chairs. There was more than enough room for the kids to run around. But I just left it because I was into Lovett. Posted by Picasa

Lyle Lovett and his Large Band. They were and are truly incredible musicians!!!! Posted by Picasa

Lyle Lovett, The Man Himself!!! What an Awesome show he and his band put on!!! Posted by Picasa
